Wool/Backings

We offer four types of backings to choose from: Monk's Cloth, Linen, Homespun and Rug Warp. We carry some of Dorr Woolen Mill's standard colors off the bolt as well as lighter colors for great backgrounds and dyeing yourself. I will custom dye your wool for you from a sample. It is very difficult to match a color exactly but I will always take the wool back if it not to your liking. For custom orders, send an email or call.

 

Backings

monks cloth

Monk’s Cloth - a cotton material that is very soft and easy to use.

linen

Linen - a great backing for hooking. This linen is not the best for a 3 cut but works great for all the other cuts.

homespun

Homespun - a polyester material that's great to use when you just want to hook a motif and not hook background as it looks great by itself and the weave is smaller than the other backings. Not good for really wide cuts 6 and above.

rug warp

Rug Warp - is cotton and is very unforgiving. Great for 3 and 4 cut.
